The makers of this supplement promise a “whole cognitive upgrade.” Since its launch in 2016, it has become one of the most popular nootropic stacks on the market.
According to its makers, “the Qualia cognition line is the result of thousands of hours of research and development by top scientists in complex-systems modeling, neurobiology, organic chemistry as well as dozens of MDs and PhDs.”
So, how does it deliver on its promises? Let’s find out!
Where To Buy Qualia Mind

When should I take Qualia Mind?
For best results (per Neurohacker):
- Take full dose (7 capsules) first thing in the morning, preferably on an empty stomach.
- Cycle the dose 5 days on and 2 days off each week for full benefits while preventing desensitization
- It does not matter if the “off-cycle” days are consecutive or apart, so long as they happen each week.
- Don’t take more than 10 capsules at once or more than 12 in a day.
- If stomach upset occurs, take with breakfast instead. Optimal dosage can vary based on body weight and sensitivity.
- You should not take Qualia if you are on any SSRI or MAOI medication – Full disclaimer on Qualia’s website
- Increase Brain Speed
- Boost Focus and Concentration
- Improve Memory
- More Creativity
- More Flow

Whew, that’s a lot! However, more is not always better, so we will have to look at the actual effects of this nootropic to determine if it’s worth purchasing.
Let’s see what these compounds are supposed to do.
How Qualia Mind Works
The individual compounds in Qualia Mind all target different aspects of cognition and brain function. By hitting the major pathways, Qualia Mind intends to provide a holistic boost to the entire brain.
Huperzine A can increase acetylcholine flow in the brain1Hai-yan Zhang. New insights into huperzine A for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease
, Acta Pharmacol Sin. 2012 , which may help with overall cognitive function and memory. However, this particular supplement is a bit controversial in the nootropics community.
It is joined by Alpha GPC and citicoline, two potent sources of acetylcholine.
Boosting the activity of this vital neurotransmitter seems to be one of the main goals of this stack.
The Celastrus Paniculatus Seed Extract can potentially improve memory.2M Bhanumathy, M S Harish, H N Shivaprasad, G Sushma. Nootropic activity of Celastrus paniculatus seed

Theobromine is a compound found in chocolate that may improve mood and energy.4Matthew J. Baggott, Emma Childs, et al. Psychopharmacology of theobromine in healthy volunteers
, Psychopharmacology (Berl). 2013
Uridine monophosphate, NALT, DLPA, Mucuna pruriens Seed, and DHA are all compounds that can support a positive mood.
The coffeeberry, taurine, and l-theanine combo provide a relaxed but potent boost in energy.5Md. Jakaria, Shofiul Azam, et al. Taurine and its analogs in neurological disorders: Focus on therapeutic potential and molecular mechanisms
, Redox Biol. 2019
The Rhodiola rosea and Bacopa monnieri are but powerful adaptogens that can fight stress and improve memory.6Yonghong Li, Victor Pham, et al. Rhodiola rosea L.: an herb with anti-stress, anti-aging, and immunostimulating properties for cancer chemoprevention

All of the vitamins in Qualia Mind (D3, C, B1, B3, B5, B6, B12) are necessary cofactors for proper nutrient synthesizing. This improves the effectiveness of all the ingredients on cognition.
Qualia Mind And Sleep
Qualia Mind is not designed for sleep specifically.
However, the 6 adaptogenic compounds included in this formula can help modulate cortisol and regulate your circadian rhythm. This should help improve your sleep.
Some anecdotes are claiming that Qualia Mind can improve deep sleep scores.
For those looking for sleep improvements, Qualia does have a product specifically for improving sleep called Qualia Night.

What is the difference between Qualia Mind and Qualia Focus?
Neurohacker Collective offers 3 versions of its main nootropic stack: Qualia Mind, Qualia Mind (Caffeine-Free), and Qualia Focus.
The main difference between them is that Qualia Mind contains PQQ, Phosphatidylserine, DHA, and CDP-Choline, and Focus doesn’t.
The Qualia Mind formula also offers higher doses of Uridine Monophosphate, Rhodiola Rosea, Artichoke Leaf, and L-Carnitine.
Qualia Focus has a higher dose of Alpha GPC.
Otherwise, the rest of the ingredient list is the same.
What Qualia Mind Has That Focus Doesn’t
The nootropics in Mind, not found in Focus, are pretty significant players.
DHA, CDP-Choline are big for overall brain function.
Phosphatidylserine helps nutrients flow in and out of brain cells and helps modulate your body’s stress response which is good for keeping stress hormones from sabotaging neurotransmitter synthesis.
PQQ stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis which helps brain energy and processing speed.8Paul S Hwang, Steven B Machek, et al. Effects of Pyrroloquinoline Quinone (PQQ) Supplementation on Aerobic Exercise Performance and Indices of Mitochondrial Biogenesis in Untrained Men
, J Am Coll Nutr
While I’m the first person to claim that with nootropics more isn’t always better, the nootropics in Qualia Mind not found in Qualia Focus justify the more expensive price-tag.
However, if you are on a tight budget and you’re ok starting low and slow with nootropics, Qualia Focus is a great product with plenty of upsides.

Which Stack Is Better?
Is Qualia Mind Addictive?
None of the ingredients in Qualia Mind are habit-forming.
Some people even claim that the caffeine in the original Qualia Mind has helped them curb their coffee habit.
If caffeine is an issue for you, then you can always opt for the caffeine-free version of Qualia Mind.
Is Qualia Mind Safe?
Qualia Mind carries a “Prop 65” warning in California, indicating that it may bring some risk to reproductive health.
However, this is a broad law that applies to many supplements and does not necessarily mean that Qualia Mind is unsafe.
For its part, Neurohacker Collective claims that Qualia Mind is safe and free of any toxins or heavy metals.
It’s important to note that the sheer number of different individual ingredients in this nootropic stack means that there is a greater potential for adverse interactions and side-effects.
Not to mention the fact that everyone reacts differently to different products and chemicals, along with the prevalence of food sensitivities.
When taking Qualia, like any product, it’s essential to pay attention to how you feel.
Does Qualia Mind Have Caffeine?
The regular Qualia Mind formulation contains 90 mg of caffeine, as much as a small cup of coffee.
The included l-theanine will take the edge off a bit but you may feel a small jolt of energy.
You can also purchase a non-caffeinated version, which excludes the coffeeberry.
Qualia Mind For Depression
There are several ingredients in Qualia Mind that may have a positive effect on mood and treating depression. These include DHA, uridine monophosphate, Mucuna Puriens, DLPA, and NALT.
It’s important to note that many people’s depression stems from physiological issues and may not benefit from just nootropics alone.
NALT and DLPA specifically have very bio-individual reactions and some people tend to have adverse reactions to these specific aminos.9Simon N. Young. L-Tyrosine to alleviate the effects of stress?
, J Psychiatry Neurosci. 2007
Qualia also warns the product is not intended for anyone currently using certain anti-depressant drugs.
If you are taking nootropics for depression specifically, this is not the product I would recommend taking for the best results.
That being said, many people have noticed boosts in mood along with decreases in stress and brain fog.
Some anecdotal reports from around the internet suggest Qualia Mind may be helpful in this regard.
Qualia Mind for ADHD
Qualia’s ability to boost focus, concentration, and overall mental clarity are where it really shines.
It includes a number of ingredients that may be useful for improving focus, including phosphatidylserine, alpha GPC, citicoline, huperzine A, Rhodiola Rosea, and NALT.
ADHD is something that many nootropics users are looking to treat, and Qualia Mind does claim that it can reign in some symptoms of this disorder.
Qualia Mind For Anxiety
Qualia Mind has several herbal adaptogens that are effective at combating stress by modulating your body’s cortisol response.
These include Rhodiola Rosea, bacopa monnieri.
It also includes DLPA, ALCAR, and L-theanine, which have all demonstrated the ability to reduce anxiety.
Qualia Mind And Weight Loss
Some people claim that they have lost weight after taking Qualia Mind.
There are fat-burning properties associated with some of the ingredients, such as ginkgo Biloba, and Rhodiola Rosea.
This is most likely due to Qualia Mind’s ability to increase motivation leading to more exercise and healthier eating.
Qualia Mind With Coffee
If you drink coffee, keep in mind that this nootropic stack already contains 90 mg of caffeine. So you may want to cut back on your coffee intake, so you do not get overstimulated.
Qualia Mind And Adderall
In theory, Qualia Mind can stack with traditional ADHD medications like Adderall since some of the ingredients can counteract the adverse effects of Adderall.
However, Qualia is pretty clear in it’s position as an adjunct or replacement to Adderall.
Qualia Mind And Diets
Qualia Mind is compatible with keto, paleo, vegan, and vegetarian diets.
Qualia Mind Criticism
Qualia Mind is very popular, and there are many glowing reviews of it on the internet.
However, it does have some drawbacks that you should consider before purchasing.
Qualia Mind’s price tag makes it the most expensive preformulated nootropic stack.
At $140, this isn’t a feasible choice for most people on a budget.
There’s also the issue of just how many ingredients are in this stack.
The higher number of ingredients means the greater chance that some of them will negatively interact with your body chemistry.
There is also the issue that it may “overload” your system with merely doing too much as once. Our bodies are complex machines, and more is not always better.
Some people may need more foundational work like improving gut health or metabolism to truly achieve nootropic benefits.
Qualia Mind Reviews From The Internet
“Effects: significantly better memory and focus. I also feel more confident in my cognitive ability and calmer. I tend to be on one extreme or the other, having either an overactive mind or feeling foggy. Qualia Mind seems to center my cognitive activity.”
– Alex Zamazon
“I don’t often notice a difference when taking supplements, but this stuff works. The folks at Neurohacker know their stuff.”
– Sal Volcano
“I’ve been taking Qualia for about two weeks now, and I have to say that I’m extremely impressed with the results. The most simple way I can put it is that after about a half-hour of taking “step two,” my brain feels like a well-oiled machine for about the next four to six hours. After that, I still seem to have some cognitive enhancements, but I don’t feel quite as “on” as during the first part of the day. I like the fact that the creators of Qualia seem to have done considerable due diligence to use a systems-thinking approach to building a safe nootropic stack. At the end of the day, many of the ingredients are just vitamins that have been formulated to better cross the blood-brain barrier. Most of the adaptogens are herbs etc. Overall, it’s a very healthy, natural supplement with a few extra boosters like noopept, which has strong evidence of being neuroprotective.”
The Qualia dose is 7 capsules per day, taken first thing in the morning.
Qualia Mind Side Effects
Qualia Mind has many components (some might say too many), some of them quite powerful, which makes it more likely that it can cause side effects. The chief complaints we hear of include:
- Sleep disturbances
- Stomach issues
- Emotional blunting
You should not take Qualia Mind with MAOIs, SSRIs, or blood pressure medication due to the possibility of negative interactions.
Some users complain of a “fishy smell” with Qualia Mind. The smell may be because Acetyl-L-Carnitine, one of its ingredients, can cause a “fishy” odor of the urine, breath, and sweat.
To sum up, Qualia Mind is a powerful nootropic formula that can enhance your mental capabilities.
It’s been shown to boost mood, focus, memory, and overall productivity.
Users from around the internet tout its many benefits.
While the price tag or the high amount of ingredients may not be for everyone, Qualia has offered alternatives to fit your needs including caffeine-free and less expensive versions.
I highly recommend this product in conjunction with other holistic methods such as a healthy diet, mindfulness practice, movement, and healthy relationships.
Feel free to compare Qualia to my other top nootropic stack choice, Mind Lab Pro.
