Ingredients

Lutemax 2020

Lutemax 2020 is a patented extract containing all three nutritionally relevant macular carotenoids—lutein, RR-zeaxanthin, and RS (meso)-zeaxanthin— in the same 5:1 ratio as found in the diet. Lutein and zeaxanthin are also found in high concentrations in the eye’s macula. They are believed to help protect the eye from oxidative stress, which is thought to be a contributing factor in age-related macular degeneration, while also improving visual acuity and contrast sensitivity.

Experts have a growing consensus that macular carotenoids are conditionally essential nutrients, meaning supplementation may be necessary. These carotenoids have become vital in light of prolonged toxic blue light exposure from digital devices, leading to eye strain and fatigue, headache frequency, and glare tolerance.

Improved eye health can also contribute to better sleep quality.

Lutemax 2020 has also been shown to boost BDNF in the brain for improved memory and learning benefits, along with enhanced cortisol regulation for stress management.

Alpha GPC

Alpha GPC (alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine) is a top nootropic for boosting overall cognition.

It is a choline-containing supplement that has been shown to increase the levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain, which is essential for memory and learning. Some studies have suggested that Alpha GPC may improve memory, attention, and cognitive function in people with age-related cognitive decline or dementia.

L-Tyrosine

L-tyrosine is an amino acid precursor to several neurotransmitters, including dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, essential in mood, cognitive function, and stress response. Some studies have suggested that L-tyrosine may help improve cognitive function and mental performance in individuals experiencing stress, fatigue, or sleep deprivation.

Some benefits that have been reported from L-tyrosine include:

  • Improving memory and learning under stress
  • Enhancing cognitive flexibility and decision making
  • Improving working memory and attention
  • Alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety

Bacopa Monnieri

Bacopa monnieri is a perennial herb that is commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is also known as “Brahmi,” derived from the Hindu god of creation, Brahma. The herb is native to India but is also found in other parts of the world, such as China, South America, and Africa. Bacopa monnieri is traditionally used to improve cognitive function, including memory and concentration. It also treats anxiety, depression, and other neurological disorders. Some studies have also suggested that Bacopa monnieri may positively affect heart health, but more research is needed to confirm these findings. The plant is used in Ayurvedic medicine in India and Nepal and traditional medicine in Brazil as a memory and concentration enhancer, anti-anxiety, and anti-inflammatory agent.

Huperzine A

Huperzine A is a naturally-occurring compound extracted from the Huperzia Serrata plant in China and other parts of Asia. It is most commonly used as a cognitive enhancer and positively affects memory, learning, and concentration.

In preclinical studies, Huperzine A has been found to increase the level of acetylcholine in the brain, a neurotransmitter involved in memory and learning. Huperzine A works by inhibiting the breakdown of acetylcholine, which helps to increase the amount of this neurotransmitter available for use in the brain.

Huperzine A has also been found to have neuroprotective effects, which may help protect the brain from damage caused by disease or injury. Studies have suggested that Huperzine A may help to protect the brain from damage caused by conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, although more research is needed to confirm these findings.

L-Theanine

L-theanine is an amino acid found naturally in tea leaves and certain types of mushrooms. It is most commonly known for its ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress but it also has cognitive-enhancing effects.

One of the main ways that L-theanine is thought to enhance cognitive function is by increasing the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, such as GABA and dopamine. These neurotransmitters regulate mood, attention, and cognitive function, and increasing their levels can lead to improved mental clarity, concentration and focus.

L-theanine also has been found to increase the activity of the alpha brain waves, which are associated with a relaxed, yet alert state of mind, helping to reduce feelings of anxiety and improve focus and concentration.

Additionally, L-theanine has been found to enhance the effects of caffeine, which is often consumed with tea. Caffeine is a stimulant that can improve cognitive function but can also lead to feelings of jitteriness and anxiety. L-theanine can help to counteract these adverse effects of caffeine and may lead to improved cognitive function with less jitteriness and anxiety.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a natural compound found in certain fruits, such as grapes, berries, and peanuts, as well as in red wine. It has gained popularity recently for its potential health benefits, particularly its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

One of the main benefits of resveratrol is its ability to act as an antioxidant. Antioxidants protect cells from damage caused by free radicals, which are molecules that can damage cells and contribute to the development of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Resveratrol is thought to be particularly effective at protecting the cells of the heart and blood vessels from damage.

Resveratrol has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties, which means it can help to reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a natural response to injury or infection, but chronic inflammation has been linked to many chronic diseases. Resveratrol may reduce the risk of these diseases by reducing inflammation.

Additionally, resveratrol has been found to have some potential benefits on cognitive function and brain health, although more research is needed to confirm these findings. Some studies have suggested that resveratrol may help to improve memory and protect the brain from damage caused by aging or disease.

Pterostilbene

Pterostilbene is a compound structurally similar to resveratrol and is found in small amounts in certain fruits, such as blueberries and grapes. Like resveratrol, it is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound.

One of the critical benefits of pterostilbene is its ability to act as an antioxidant, which can help to protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. Pterostilbene is considered more bioavailable than resveratrol, meaning it is more easily absorbed and used by the body. This may make it more effective at protecting cells from damage.

Pterostilbene has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation has been linked to many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. By reducing inflammation, pterostilbene may reduce the risk of these diseases.

Additionally, pterostilbene has been found to have some potential benefits on cognitive function and brain health, although more research is needed to confirm these findings. Some studies have suggested that pterostilbene may help to improve memory and protect the brain from damage caused by aging or disease.

Oat Straw

Oat straw is an herb derived from the green parts of the oat plant (Avena sativa). It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine to treat various health conditions, including anxiety, stress, and fatigue.

One of the main benefits of oat straw is its ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress. It is thought to work by increasing neurotransmitters in the brain, such as GABA, which regulates mood and anxiety. Oat straw has also been found to have a calming effect on the nervous system, which can help to reduce feelings of anxiety and stress.

Oat straw is also believed to have cognitive-enhancing effects and is commonly used to improve concentration and focus. It works by increasing blood flow to the brain, which can help improve oxygen delivery and other nutrients. This can help to improve cognitive function and reduce mental fatigue.

Additionally, Oat straw has been traditionally used to help with sexual dysfunction and improve overall sexual health in men. Some studies have found that it may improve circulation in the sexual organs and can help with symptoms such as erectile dysfunction.

Cat’s Claw

Cat’s claw, also known as Uncaria tomentosa, is a tropical vine native to the Amazon rainforest. It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine to treat various health conditions, including inflammation, arthritis, and infections.

In terms of cognitive benefits, there needs to be more scientific research on the effects of Cat’s claw on cognitive function. However, some studies have suggested that it may benefit memory and brain health. The main compounds found in Cat’s claw that have been found to have neuroprotective effects are alkaloids and oxindole alkaloids. These compounds are thought to help protect the brain from damage caused by free radicals and inflammation, which can contribute to the development of neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Evidence also suggests that Cat’s claw may benefit anxiety and depression. Studies have found that it may help to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression by modulating the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.

Vitamins B1/B7/B12

Vitamins B1 (thiamine), B7 (biotin), and B12 (cobalamin) are all B vitamins that are important for cognitive function and overall brain health.

Vitamin B1 (thiamine) is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It plays a vital role in the metabolism of glucose, which is the primary energy source for the brain. A deficiency in vitamin B1 can lead to neurological problems such as confusion, memory loss, and difficulty walking.

Vitamin B7 (biotin) is essential for the health of the nervous system and the metabolism of fats and amino acids. Biotin plays a role in cognitive function, and a biotin deficiency has been linked to cognitive impairment.

Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is essential for forming myelin, a protective coating around nerve fibers in the brain. It also plays a role in the formation of red blood cells and the metabolism of DNA. A deficiency in vitamin B12 can lead to neurological problems such as confusion, memory loss, and difficulty walking.

It’s important to note that while these vitamins are essential for cognitive function, their deficiency is rare if one has a well-balanced diet. However, vegetarians and vegans may be at risk of deficiency and should consult a healthcare professional to ensure they are getting enough of these vitamins. Additionally, taking large doses of these vitamins in supplement form without a prescription can be harmful. It’s always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before taking any supplements.

My Experience Taking NooCube

I recently started taking NooCube in the morning with coffee at half dose (1 pill) as I like to see if I notice any difference at low dosage.

From the first time taking it, I immediately noticed improved clarity and focus that lasted through the morning into the late afternoon. I completed several work assignments, house chores, research, and a good workout that first day.

Not to mention I have two small children and this mental boost is what I need to keep up with the demands of being a dad.

One big perk of Noocube is that the cognitive boost doesn’t last all day and tends to fade later in the day rather than suddenly crash or overstimulate you when you want to be getting ready for sleep.

I also love that no extra added ingredients like cheap oils, fillers, excipients, food colorings, and flow agents exist. Crap like this is ubiquitous in supplements and hinders the quality. Just being void of these additives adds bonus points.

Overall I rate Noocube as high as any other top blend on the market, like Mind Lab Pro, Qualia Mind, or Alpha Brain.

It’s important to remember that this is my personal experience with NooCube is my own, and yours may vary. The only way to know if this nootropic works for you is to try it.

NooCube vs. Mind Lab Pro

Noocube compares much to Mind Lab Pro because it has only ten nootropic ingredients and 3 B vitamins. Some differences exist in specific herbal nootropics, but the core is similar: Choline, Tyrosine, L-theanine, and B-Vitamins.

I think it comes down to personal preference at this point. If you’re trying to decide which is better for you, get a bottle of each and try for a month.
